How cut down was the TV3 Broadcast of Rhys Darby: Imagine that?

Just to elaborate, it’s an 83 minute dvd that was cut into a 60 minute special; so of course something had to go, you, the television watcher at home should consider yourself lucky that you even got to see the bit that was referenced on the front cover (an imaginary jetpack. Shh, tell your friends). This also explains Rhys’s miracle back sweat. It didn’t just splash on in one great wave off of Kamagawa, but instead, like most man sweat, appeared after a sustained period of exertion in warm conditions.
Amusingly TV3 kept the full credits of the special, so the credit for a Johnny Depp look alike was most surreal. Now what I want to know is to what degree the New Zealand Tourism board helped out with the show. I guess New Zealand needs to capitalise on what ever cultural currency we have you know? It’s not like we don’t owe Darby and Jermaine Clement for their efforts on Pulp and Skitz. Atleast some of that stuff was good damn it… Atleast, my comedy starved 11 year old evaluation of those shows at the time were that they were good. I’ve started to ramble, haven’t I?

(Jet pack. Shhhhh....)
