Messing with a Business Card
Posted by Nic on October 9th, 2008 filed in blogI’m designing my first ever business card. Well, that’s not true; I made a business card for a show last year and I should see if I can dig it up. This is my first attempt at a colour card and I have pretty much got the visual side sorted… I think. I don’t like the quote, and I have a feeling that I’ve used my last name a tad too often for the card. Plus, what is it a business card for? What does the site do? According to my card not alot.
This one’s use of arial was really flat and uninspired, which was actually almost the look I wanted to give with the pixelated background, but everything looked just a little too crisp. Plus, the colouring of ‘The Sando’ was slightly off palette, which annoyed me.
This is a second attempt. It uses good old Trebuchet_Ms’ for the boring flat typeface, and ‘Uni_05_64″, which is a free typeface from miniml, which is a pretty cool little site with some interesting concepts for the fonting community. The messyness in the background, and over some of the text is from the Water Colour script from one of the old versions of Paint Shop Pro. Wow; anybody remember when that was the industry standard image editor?
I’ll probably have a more final version up in a couple of days; but until then, let’s see where this takes us.

The way you shade your hair makes you look like one of us filthy reds.
Oh and medium large is great!

Thanks guys. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m really happy with the colour scheme. Even if it does make me look just a little ginger.

I’ve been thinking about this for a little while, and everything seems to be a little washed out. You know what I’m saying?
Weren’t the fringe applications due in this week?

Yes they were. I figured everyone who should know knew anyways. the colours are a little washed out on screen, but they do seem darker when printed on a good quality printer.
Do I know you, Pykrete?
