God damn this everything

I really hate this tyranny of distance.  Therwe is a new Flight of the Conchords episode, a full one in fact, up at funnyordie.com which is totally sweet. If you live in America. Which I don’t.  God damn.  Living on the ass cheek of the world, and having commercial entities dictate when I can access a technology or a piece of art (especially television and cinema) really does give me a childish feeling of piratical entitlement. Why should I have to hide from certain forums because The Hulk isn’t in theatres yet? Thank god I managed to get into a sneak preview of Zac And Mirry Make a Porno a month or so back. Otherwise I’d still be waiting to see Kevin Smith’s latest film.  I work in a video store, and I get people coming in telling me that they have download x new release because they couldn’t stand waiting for it to turn up in New Zealand. Good on them. My  job in this part of the film  industry is in the balance, and let’s be frank here, it will be gone as it is today within a decade or so. This is a good thing, currently, the  luddites are control of media farms  and they are taking their legal sticks to the new interconnected factories.  They will lose, and the sooner they do, the better it will be for the world. Me, I’ll get a new job,  probably not as fun as the one I now have, but I’ll find one. Maybe at the local Burger King, because there will always be low paying, hard jobs with no work satisfaction around… unless the robots come.

Also, the site’s back up… kinda. Let the relaunch commence.

Also, check out my new webcomic The Coast it’s packed full of something alright.

Hey, your complaint was totally taken up by the New Zealand Herald. You scooped them but I don’t think that anyone noticed.

    Is the link.

It’s only a matter of time before international distribution becomes a reality. Unfortunately, it’s still a matter of time before international distribution comes close to being a reality.

But if NZ really wants to own the Conchords, the Conchords need to be less commercially viable in overseas markets and the show should be produced by a New Zealand company. Unfortunately, that’s not always enough for a show to debut in New Zealand.

I managed to get to the preview of Frost/Nixon. That would have been a tough wait!

Frost/Nixon was definitely worth your while wasn’t it?

I disagree with you on another point though; international distribution is already here. There are even some non black or gray market avenues as well. Comedy Central lets you watch their videos, youtube is used by many too. And just look at what Monty Python just did.

As for the Conchords, they wouldn’t be who they are now if we hadn’t made them want to leave New Zealand. That writer they hooked up with is an asset to the team. So it is a winning situation, and they do have every right to be international artists, it’s not as if they were government owned or so forth.

Good point. I forgot about comedy central. Their online videos of The Colbert Report rock my world.

Too right about Conchords. I guess that we can only hope that distributors tend toward a more international approach or that artists demand such use of their material.

btw. Looks like there is no RSS link to your main blog (though there is to the comics).
